SUMMARY:Employee must have the ability to perform sound weldments using the GTAW weld process and meet the Camfil’s acceptance criteria for visual inspection of welds.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:In addition to those listed in the Summary section above, the following are duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) on stainless steel, aluminum and aluminized steel materials.
  • Perform GTAWwelding on various steel components.
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly and welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Select, read and adhere to proper welding procedures and guidelines as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Set up welding machines and select appropriate settings for different tasks.
  • Inspect welds for accuracy and quality.
  • Repair and rework defective welds as needed.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Availability for daily/weekly overtime.
  • Cross-train in other positions within the facility based on business needs.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: High School diploma (minimum) Trade School preferred.
  • Minimum skills require that a welder apprentice be capable of performing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on stainless steel, aluminum and aluminized steel materials as required by supervisor. These welds must be made in accordance with Camfil’s shop practices which call for uniform weld penetration.
  • Proven experience as a GTAW welder.
  • Required proficiency to pass a root face bend weld coupon for certification to the ASME Section IX of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for the GTAW weld process.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
  • Knowledge of welding safety practices and regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to office, warehouse, and plant environments. The work environment will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in certain areas. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
