Job Description
Position Summary

The Container Handler Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating container handling equipment to load, unload, transport, stack, and organize shipping containers within the facility. This role requires a dependable, safety-focused individual with experience operating heavy equipment and the ability to work in a fast-paced operations environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate container handling equipment, including top loaders, forklifts, and JCBs.
  • Load and unload shipping containers from trucks, railcars, and storage areas.
  • Transport and position containers according to operational schedules and yard layouts.
  • Inspect containers for damage, defects, proper identification, and safety concerns.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, accidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of container locations, movements, and inventory within computerized tracking systems to support safe and efficient terminal operations.
  • Coordinate with management, office personnel, truck drivers, and other operators to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Assist with other operational duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment or container handling equipment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certifications and licenses.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and enter/exit equipment multiple times per shift.
  • Good vision, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime and on weekends when necessary.
Work Environment
  • This position operates primarily in an outdoor terminal, yard, or operations facility environment.
  • The employee may be exposed to moving equipment, loud noise, changing weather conditions, and active truck, rail, or container traffic.
Safety Requirements
  • The Container Handler Operator must follow all company safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, report unsafe conditions immediately, and maintain awareness of surrounding equipment, personnel, and traffic at all times.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay for this position is expected to be:

$26.00
