Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Job description

This role reports to the Director of Consumer Lending Fulfillment and will supervise the underwriting for consumer lending real‑estate loans. The supervisor will help to ensure company goals, initiatives, and expectations are being met for consumer origination functions. This includes adherence to overall company policy, procedures, productivity requirements, expected customer service levels, productivity metrics, industry guidelines and regulations.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Supervises Consumer underwriting, ensures superior customer service to both our internal and external customers, ensures exceptional loan quality and attention to detail is maintained on every file, and service level expectations are met or exceeded on a daily basis. Focuses on individual production with goals set by the Mortgage and Consumer Fulfillment Manager. Effectively communicate both company policy and procedure (P&P) updates as well as industry trends and regulatory changes to team members in a timely and professional fashion. Ensures Consumer related issues (processes, employee, etc.) are communicated to the Fulfillment Manager in a timely manner. Ensures loans are underwritten within the standards and exceeds expectations in loan quality. Monitors loan origination system and reports to advise and provide direction for pipeline management to ensure balance in workloads as well as efficiency in production. Assists with team meetings by identifying and proposing timely meeting/training topics as well as presenting when needed. Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining a thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, while demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics and complying with all Federal, State, Investor/Agency and company requirements. Assists in the creation of documents, process and policy as it relates to the Consumer Underwriting and Processing functions. This includes identifying process improvement opportunities, working with various stakeholders and departments to collaborate solutions. Mentors team members and assists with training, performance management issues, and finding solutions to trending department issues/concerns. This includes effectively administering performance reviews, corrective action, and coaching in partnership with the Mortgage and Consumer Fulfillment Manager. Responsible for assisting team members in finding solutions to challenging scenarios or loan conditions with the ability to find creative and acceptable solutions for restructuring loans. Addresses, resolves and swiftly responds to consumer concerns related to loan origination as needed. Functions/Responsibilities as listed for Consumer Underwriter III Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of mortgage process and mortgage documents.
  • Ability to adapt well to change.
  • Demonstrate responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning; must be a fast-paced individual.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Word and Excel, to include Adobe Acrobat and possess a strong appetite to learn and be a leader in technology tools and efficiencies.
  • Working knowledge of FNMA DO/DU, GUS, and FHLMC LP.
  • Must have overall Processing/Underwriting knowledge of how to read , income tax returns, credit reports, etc.
  • Ability to manage and handle a large volume of originations while performing effective pipeline management.

Physical Requirements Compliance Statement

The associate is responsible for meeting all compliance requirements imposed on First Financial Bank by State and Federal law and regulation, as well as all related First Financial Bank policies and procedures. This includes all Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements, as well as all other lending and deposit compliance requirements.

Development and Training Pay Range

$74,000- $100,000/annually
