Job summary

NBT is seeking a Closing & Funding Operations Specialist in the United States to manage daily closing and funding tasks, including preparing loan packages, coordinating with closing agents, and ensuring timely communication with internal and external customers. The role requires familiarity with loan products and strong attention to detail.

Two years of banking or lending experience are preferred, along with strong computer skills, organizational abilities, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control on closed loans and ensure data accuracy.
  • Proactively manage missing or incomplete documents and follow up with agents.
  • Answer inquiries with superior customer service.

Job description

Pay Range: $20.10 - $26.79

Responsible for the daily closing and funding operations functions, including but not limited to: preparing approved loans for closing, coordinating scheduling with closing agents, generating, reviewing and validating loan documents, collecting and tracking pre- and post-closing documentation, coordinating loan funding, communicating information timely and effectively to internal and external customers and ensuring quality files are maintained and placed within the imaging system. Must maintain a working knowledge of all secured and unsecured loan and line of credit products that are offered. Working knowledge of the legal and regulatory, as well as, timing and content requirements of the documents, by product, is essential.

Education and Experience
  • 2 years of banking or lending experience preferred
  • 2 years in a professional work environment required, preferably within a bank, financial institution, or law office.
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of consumer, real estate or mortgage products and workflows preferred, but not required
  • Strong computer proficiency – i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization skills

  • Ability to multi-task on numerous tasks simultaneously
Tasks Performed
  • 25% Engage closing agents to expedite the scheduling of closings to ensure that we are within the established departmental service level expectations.
  • 25% Perform post-closing document review to validate documents are complete and accurate prior to funding. Authorize and/or prepare disbursements.
  • 20% Performs quality control and quality assurance reviews on all closed loans in preparation for the upload and document storage processes; ensures data fields are accurately completed within the loan origination system and file documentation is in order.
  • 15% Proactively manages a pipeline of missing, incomplete or incorrectly prepared documents within established departmental service levels. Routinely follows-up with the closing agents to remedy any outstanding items within established timelines.
  • 10% Answer internal and external customer inquiries on a routine and timely basis. Provides superior customer service and professional communication. Maintains a positive attitude and works as a team player with management, co-workers, and others.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.
