Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to support utility vegetation management in Salt Lake City, UT.

The role focuses on working with electric and gas utilities to address forestry needs, collect data with handheld devices, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The position requires residency within 25 miles of Salt Lake City, ISA Arborist certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months), and a proven track record in field arboriculture.

Qualifications

• Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of utility vegetation management experience
• ISA Certified Arborist
• Resides within 25 miles of Salt Lake City, Utah
• Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
• More than 1 year of utility vegetation management experience or similar field experience
• Ability to become an ISA Certified Arborist within 6 months
• Great communicator and team player
• Outdoor, independent work environment and willingness to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Work with major electric / gas utility system to address its forestry needs

• Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property

Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with major electric / gas utility system to address its forestry needs

Inspect utility rights of ways and identify vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations

Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation

Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline

3+ years of utility vegetation management experience

ISA Certified Arborist

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Resides within 25 miles of Salt Lake City, Utah

Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads

More than 1 year of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional)

Ability to become an ISA Certified Arborist within 6 months of starting employment

Great communicator and team player

Embraces an outdoor and independent work environment

Thrives on adaptation, continual learning and training and is detail oriented

Possess knowledge of local tree species and species specific growth rates

Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
