What will you be doing?
As a Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE), you will lead the technical vision for Fortune 500 - Fortune 2,000 clients across industries. This senior pre-sales role is ideal for a seasoned engineer passionate about designing big-picture solutions and guiding customers through complex digital transformations. The ideal candidate will drive success through building strong customer and OEM relationships built on trust and collaboration.

No two days are alike - one day you’ll design multi-cloud strategies or modern data centers, the next you’ll demo advanced security solutions. As a trusted advisor partnering with sales, you’ll align customer goals with innovative technologies. With access to our world-class ATC (Advanced Technology Center - https://www.wwt.com/atc ) for demos, workshops and learning, you’ll deliver top-tier results. If you thrive on solving complex problems and staying ahead of tech trends, this role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact.

This position will require the ability to travel up to 25%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the technical sales strategy for key accounts, proactively identifying customer challenges and designing innovative architecture solutions that deliver real business value.
  • Partner with your Sales counterpart across customer engagements – from discovery meetings and whiteboard design sessions to product demos and solution presentations.
  • Partner with Sales to shape cost-effective solutions that meet both the customer’s technical requirements and financial constraints.
  • Translate customer requirements into custom technical designs and compelling proposals, simplifying complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as the technical expert in your focus area, designing solutions across storage, compute, data protection/backup, disaster recovery, cyber resiliency, virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure, and cloud/hybrid cloud environments.
  • Identify and leverage extended team resources to bring additional expertise and scope to customers.
  • Leverage internal resources – regularly utilize the ATC for hands‑on workshops, demos, and proofs‑of‑concept – to accelerate sales cycles and show value early.
  • Build, grow, and manage strong relationships with customer teams, becoming their go‑to consultative advisor.
  • Clearly set expectations, communicate with precision, and lead conversations rather than just attend them. Bring added value to every meeting you attend.
  • Use your business insight to understand clients’ operations and guide them toward strategic, future‑proof solutions.
  • Map WWT’s value proposition to customer needs and requirements.
  • Work closely with our partners and OEMs (leading technology vendors) to craft unified solutions and deliver industry expertise to both customers and OEMs.
  • Stay ahead of tech trends and emerging technologies, expanding your expertise across adjacent domains (think cloud, security, networking, digital workplace, etc.).
  • Take ownership of your career development with direction and guidance from leadership.
  • Be curious and creative in finding new ways to solve customer problems. Provide thought leadership by sharing insights on new technologies and best practices with clients and internally within our engineering community.
  • Embrace our core values and team culture in every interaction, including the sales process.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (sales, services, partners) and model our culture of innovation, teamwork, and customer‑first service.
  • Ensure every solution and customer experience reflects the quality and integrity our company is known for.
