Job summary

Neo4j is seeking a Consulting Engineer to work with enterprise customers on graph-powered solutions. You will design graph data models, contribute across project lifecycles, and act as a trusted technical advisor while guiding customers on best practices for graph development and data architectures.

You will collaborate with customer teams and Neo4j specialists to deliver production-ready implementations, enable AI-powered analytics, and ensure successful outcomes across diverse industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 3+ years designing and developing enterprise-class applications with a focus on data-driven or analytics-focused systems.
• Strong experience in data modelling and designing data structures for complex applications; familiarity with relational, NoSQL, or graph databases.
• Experience deploying applications on modern platforms such as Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to Neo4j implementations across the full project lifecycle, from initial design to production rollout.
• Act as the technical subject matter expert on engagements, providing hands-on guidance and leadership for Neo4j development.
• Design and implement graph data models that represent complex relationships and support high-performance querying and analytics.
• Architect and build solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements using Neo4j.
• Support modern data and AI architectures by structuring graph data for advanced analytics and AI patterns such as RAG.
• Collaborate with customer AI and data teams to integrate Neo4j into orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Provide guidance to customers on best practices for Data Engineering, focusing on optimized data ingestion into Neo4j.
• Develop solution architectures addressing technical requirements of customer projects.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for customer engineers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to proposals, level of effort assessments, SOWs and technical recommendations.
• Train and mentor customer teams on Neo4j best practices and graph development techniques.
• Travel may be required depending on client engagements.

Job Title: Consulting Engineer

Role Overview: As a Consulting Engineer at Neo4j, you will work closely with enterprise customers to implement graph‑powered solutions, contributing to all phases of the Neo4j implementation within their projects, from inception to roll‑out. Partnering with customer engineering teams and Neo4j Principal/Senior Consulting Engineers, you will design graph data models, and help deliver successful Neo4j implementations from initial design through to production deployment. You will act as a trusted technical advisor during consulting engagements, working hands‑on with Neo4j technology while helping customers adopt best practices for graph data modeling, application development, and modern AI‑powered data architectures. You will also help customers solve complex data and analytics challenges by applying graph technology to deliver practical, production‑ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with customer engineering teams to lead and contribute to Neo4j implementations across the full project lifecycle, from initial design through to production roll‑out
• Act as the technical subject matter expert on consulting engagements, providing hands‑on guidance and technical leadership for succeeding with Neo4j technology
• Design and implement graph data models that represent complex relationships and support high-performance querying and analytics
• Architect and build solutions that meet both functional and non‑functional requirements using Neo4j
• Support modern data and AI architectures by structuring graph data to enable advanced analytics, search, and emerging AI patterns such as RAG
• Collaborate with customer AI and data teams to integrate Neo4j into modern orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex
• Provide guidance to customers on best practices for Data Engineering, focusing on optimizing data ingestion patterns into Neo4j.
• Develop solution architectures that address the technical requirements of customer projects

• Familiarity with source control and development workflows using tools such as Git
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts in customer settings
• Confidence presenting technical solutions and building strong customer relationships
• Ability to work independently in a remote, cross‑functional organization
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and development approaches
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Bonus Points:

• 2+ years working in a consultative capacity in a Professional Services organisation
• Industry experience in Financial Services, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Technology
• Experience working with graph databases such as Neo4j, TigerGraph, JanusGraph, or similar technologies
• Familiarity with Snowflake or Databricks, and NoSQL/Relational providers such as MongoDB, Couchbase, or Teradata.
• Experience in data science related projects and packages e.g. SciLearn, Keras, TensorFlow etc
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
