Job description

Overview

In this position, you will apply deep expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise, Utility Network, and Water Solutions to help water utilities solve complex operational and data challenges. Working directly with water, wastewater, and stormwater organizations, you will design and implement enterprise GIS solutions that improve asset management, system reliability, and field operations.

This role is focused on professionals who understand both ArcGIS Enterprise and the business of GIS in water utilities, and who are passionate about partnering with customers to turn real-world challenges into scalable, enterprise solutions.

You will leverage your experience across water utilities workflows—including operations, asset management, data management, field operations, and customer engagement—to drive meaningful outcomes for customers while advancing the use of GIS as an enterprise system.

Working alongside industry experts at Esri, you will help utilities modernize their geospatial infrastructure, improve data quality and accessibility, and expand the impact of GIS across their organizations.

As part of Esri’s Professional Services division, you will work on high-impact projects that enable customers to improve water distribution, sewer and stormwater collection, asset management practices, and service reliability in communities around the world.

Responsibilities
  • Help clients translate complex water utility challenges into practical, state-of-the-art GIS solutions, with a strong emphasis on implementing ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Utility Network, and ArcGIS Solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients to prepare enterprise geospatial strategies, including multi-year implementation and migration roadmaps.
  • Collect, organize, and present client requirements, objectives, and business workflows—including asset management, field operations, and data management—to develop actionable ArcGIS Enterprise solutions.
  • Analyze and interpret business and technical problems specific to water utilities, delivering practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Advise customers on enterprise GIS strategies and product selection, with a focus on ArcGIS Enterprise and Utility Network.
  • Lead project management activities, including planning, execution, and delivery of water utilities GIS projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and successful customer outcomes.
  • Create and manage scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables through planning, tracking, quality assurance, change control, and risk management.
  • Manage small to large-scale projects and lead project teams through requirements, analysis, design, build, and rollout.
  • Track project performance and communicate status with internal teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Work with Esri’s marketing and sales teams to support business development, expand into new application areas, and deliver solutions to new and existing customers.
  • Manage client relationships and maintain a strong focus on customer success and long-term partnership.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience applying ArcGIS Enterprise in production environments.
  • 5+ years of experience working within the water, wastewater, or stormwater utility industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ArcGIS Utility Network concepts and implementations.
  • Experience using and configuring Esri products including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Field Maps, and ArcGIS Solutions.
  • Ability to connect utility business workflows (asset management, field operations, data management, etc.) to ArcGIS solutions.
  • Strong client‑facing experience with a proven ability to understand customer needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Experience contributing to or leading complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or activities in parallel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, GIS, geography, or a related field.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this posting. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in integrating business systems with ArcGIS to support work management, asset management, SCADA, customer information, and document management.
  • Knowledge of RDBMS and geodatabase design, with best practices in data management.
  • Familiarity with mobile applications for data collection of water utilities assets.
  • Experience contributing to GIS strategies, enterprise deployments, or modernization initiatives within the utilities industry.
