This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Scottsdale, Arizona; Columbus, Ohio; or Des Moines, Iowa office 2 days per week, specifically on Mondays and Tuesdays. Current remote associates will also be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Design, develop, and maintain solutions for the ESS MLS Brokerage Talon application.
  • Upgrade current APIs to the latest CNP Platform.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of projects by setting clear goals, managing resources, and tracking progress.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the development process.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the system and integrations.

Ideal Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer with Guidewire Insurance Now experience.
  • Strong proficiency in GIN, Java, APIGEE, Spring Boot, Kafka, Vulnerabilities Remediation, DevSecOps tools, Micro-Services/Composable services architecture with AWS Services.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus on mentoring and leading others to deliver high quality, cost-effective technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, tools, and coding standards.
  • Provide strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
  • Drive cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards and best practices.
  • Champion the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
  • Ensure continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice, and innovation.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or related field are strongly preferred.

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis; three years in project management is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Associates may have on-call responsibilities after hours and on weekends.
