Job summary

Northern Trust in the United States is seeking a Fraud Consultant in Payments Fraud Investigations. Qualifications

Fraud Consultant, Payments Fraud Investigations

The Fraud Consultant in Payments Fraud Investigations plays a pivotal role in identifying and analyzing transactions involving fraud. You will lead and conduct thorough investigations related to Northern Trust accounts, clients, operations, or employees, ensuring all activities are supported by detailed analysis and documented findings.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with payment operations, relationship and account managers, and the Global Fraud Investigations team to ensure timely communication of identified fraudulent transactions and time sensitive submission of Unusual Activity Forms or Suspicious Activity Reports and maintaining strict confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Key responsibilities:
  • Serving as the escalation point for transactions alerts indicating suspected fraud
  • Monitoring and analyzing high-risk payments activity
  • Leveraging fraud detection platform to identify patterns, anomalies, and risk signals before to prevent incidence of fraud
  • Conducting in-depth investigations resulting from fraud alerts and reports
  • Partnering with payment operations, account managers and relationship managers to ensure effective client communication regarding fraudulent incidents
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior investigators to ensure consistency and accuracy in investigative processes
Knowledge:
  • Seasoned expert with strong background in financial crimes investigations
  • Strong communication skills, together with influencing and relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate across lines of businesses
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Understanding and analyzing data sets to ensure appropriate conclusions
  • Drive trends and provide new conclusions or perspectives on new findings
  • Working collaboratively with business partners
Experience:
  • 24 months as Associate Consultant
  • Solid experience within financial crimes investigations, generally 6+ years.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using fraud detection software is essential.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations related to financial crimes and fraud prevention strategies is necessary.
  • A university/college degree or equivalent and/or relevant proven work experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Salary Range:

$70,490 - 119,890 USD
