OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will conduct due diligence and condition assessments, landmark inspections, reserve studies, hurricane assessments, and physical needs assessments of existing low to high-rise buildings.

The Salary Range for this position is $95,800 - $143,600 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop pre-inspection plans.
  • Research property information.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and warranties with contract documents.
  • Versed in communicating with clients.
  • Conduct field assessments which includes riding swing stages, climbing scaffolding and ladders, and walking on sloped roofs.
  • Keeping organized records including detailed field notes and photographs.
  • Prepare written narrative and templated reports with photographs, tables, and exhibits.
  • Conduct and prepare structural milestone reports, reserve studies, condition assessments, forensic engineering reports, and post-hurricane damage assessments.
  • Prepare cost estimating.
  • Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and testing firms.
  • Review/Research and familiarity with building codes and construction standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 5 years of industry and housing building code experience required.
  • Proficiency in MS office products, including Word and Excel, and Blue Beam.
  • Experience in estimating is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are a must.
  • Job site and office time are split approximately 50/50.
  • Good report writing skills with the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes, and deadlines.
  • Must be outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and home/business owners.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • You must possess excellent verbal and communication skills and technical writing abilities.
  • Must have housing building code experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related experience and certifications in building inspections.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE), preferred.
  • Home Inspector License / Certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL:

  • Physical Demands -Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
  • Overtime- This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
  • Travel Requirements- This position requires up to 25% travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
