• 3+ years estimating underground wet and dry utilities, civil construction, or related infra projects.
• Experience estimating storm drain projects and underground utilities installations.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Excel and cloud storage tools (Google Drive/Dropbox).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for underground utility projects.
• Review plans, specs, drawings, and requirements to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Estimate storm drain, sewer, water, electrical, and related utility infrastructure projects.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Maintain estimate documentation, bid files, and proposal records.
• Coordinate with management, project teams, and field personnel during bids.
• Track bid results and assist with project handoffs upon award.
• Assist with multiple estimates and meet bid deadlines.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.

Position Overview

A well-established civil construction contractor is seeking a Construction Utility Estimator to support underground wet and dry utility projects throughout Southern California. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for utility installation and storm drain projects while collaborating with field and leadership teams to support successful project execution.

The ideal candidate has experience estimating underground utilities, understands civil construction operations, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and organization are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for underground wet and dry utility projects.
• Review plans, specifications, drawings, and project requirements to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Estimate storm drain, sewer, water, electrical, communication, and related utility infrastructure projects.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Maintain estimate documentation, bid files, and proposal records.
• Coordinate with management, project teams, and field personnel throughout the bid process.
• Track bid results and assist with project handoffs upon award.
• Support multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting bid deadlines.
• Assist with identifying value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in underground wet and dry utilities, civil construction, or related infrastructure projects.
• Experience estimating storm drain projects and underground utility installations.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with Google Drive and Dropbox.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
