Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an entry-level Field Technician to conduct observation, testing, and sampling of soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction sites. Training, certifications, and OSHA 10 opportunities are provided as you grow in the role.

You will work under the guidance of senior technicians and project managers, gain hands-on experience, and develop essential CMT knowledge while supporting safety practices and data collection activities onsite.

Qualifications

  • No experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
  • Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
  • OSHA 10 certification may be required.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Field Activities: Observe, test, and sample materials on construction sites under supervision.
  • Testing Procedures: Perform routine field and lab tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete per industry standards.
  • Data Collection: Calculate and summarize test results and sampling data; assist with drafting and admin tasks as needed.
  • Communication: Maintain daily contact with site contractors and project managers; report site changes.
  • Training and Development: Receive ECS training and document findings accurately.

Job description

Overview

No experience required and all training and certifications are provided! Starting pay of $18 - $20 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
  • Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
  • Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; May assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; Attend project meetings as requested; Assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
  • Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
