ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join the Roanoke team. This entry-level, primarily field-based role involves observing, sampling, and documenting site conditions under supervision.

You will develop foundational technical skills while supporting testing activities and communicating with contractors and project managers. ECS supports ongoing training, OSHA 10, ACI, ASNT, NICET certifications, and more.

Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Obtain basic certifications per ECS Technician Policy.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.
• Good communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to lift up to 85 lbs.
• Basic math and data entry skills.
• Read maps and interpret plans (developing).

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete.
• Assist with materials testing on project sites.
• Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Report changing site conditions and testing needs.
• Assist with daily field report preparation and submission.
• Support basic calculations and data entry of test results.
• Organize and maintain field equipment.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Participate in project meetings with senior staff.
• Perform other field and project support duties as assigned.

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Roanoke team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Field Technician performs field observations and begins conducting routine testing of construction materials under direct supervision. This role is primarily field-based and supports project execution by collecting data, documenting site conditions, and assisting with testing activities. The Field Technician develops foundational technical skills and familiarity with construction practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete under supervision
• Assists with construction materials testing activities on project sites
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Obtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
• Good communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension)
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethic
• Very limited to no knowledge of CMT principles and testing standards
• Basic math skills and data entry ability
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans (developing)
• Basic proficiency with electronic devices (tablets, phones, laptops)
• Ability to work effectively with supervisors, peers, and clients
• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs)
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies

The expected pay range for this role and location is $20/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
