Under general supervision of the manager, performs a variety of advanced journeyman level work. Construction, remodels and repairs of the hospital facilities, office facilities and Cogeneration /Central Plant facilities equipment, to include the primary fields of electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); carpentry; drywall; plumbing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
- License /Certification Required: Valid California Drivers License. Must provide DMV report prior to offer being made. No driving infractions 5 years prior to hire or during time in this job. Infractions include DUI, Suspended or Revoked License, Reckless Driving.
- Experience Required: Five years experience in building trades.
Department Specific Requirements
- If assigned to Plumbing: requires Medical Gas certification within one year of hire/transfer.
- If assigned to Electrical: requires CA Electrical certification.
- If assigned to Locksmith: requires Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) within two years of hire/transfer.
- If assigned to HVAC: requires EPA refrigeration certification.
- For Co‑Generation Plant, Maintenance KHMC, Maintenance KHRH, and Plant Ops & Maintenance‑TLC must have a personal cell phone for work purposes, preferably AT&T. Stipend will be provided.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with designated tasks as assigned by Facilities Manager routinely and in an on‑call capacity.
- Installs, repairs, replaces and maintains systems and components, equipment, and apparatus in or on buildings or structures in accordance with provisions of the National Plumbing Code, National Electrical Code, California Administrative Code, Joint Commission directives, Title 22, NFPA and ISO 9001 as well as pertinent plans, specifications, or job orders.
- Capable of troubleshooting assigned equipment by reading prints, circuits, and operational manuals to determine defective components.
- Capable of learning attributes of new equipment and solving problems with numerous vendors.
- Understands that each individual will be assigned primary responsibility in their specialty and will be primarily responsible for all Kaweah Health equipment. Reads and interprets plans.
Addendum (essential for specific dept)
- FRAMING/SHEET ROCK: Scales, layout frame and sheet rock according to plans and specifications. Reads print and installs based on dimensional specifications.
- PLUMBING: Installs, plans, able to layout from plans. Calculates proper pipe sizes and installs according to UPC.
- ELECTRICAL WORK: Understands and works with different electrical distribution systems within Kaweah Health buildings. Knows various low voltage configurations, controls, and transformations. Makes proper splices and connections and keeps current records of layouts. Complies with NEC, OSHPD, Title 22, Joint Commission and ISO 9001 electrical requirements. Reads and interprets plans.
- CONSTRUCTION HVAC: Performs routine checks and repairs and adjusts as necessary air balances thermostats and pneumatic control devices. Capable of performing various welding techniques including arc welding and oxygen/acetylene welding. Understands and works with different mechanical ice, heating and cooling units; capable of trouble shooting compressors, fan units, refrigerant systems. Has knowledge of sheet metal fabrication to resolve problems in the field.
- ELECTRONICS: Uses oscilloscope to analyze electrical circuit conditions. Knows solid state circuitry and able to identify and replace circuit board components. Understands circuit schematics and able to trace paths of electricity to identify faulty components. Able to obtain and solder new components into existing boards. Understands computer linkages to operational control circuits of typical Kaweah Health equipment.
