Job summary

FlatironDragados in Lumberton, NC is seeking a Construction Technician to provide technical support ensuring construction work meets engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications. You will review drawings, assist with scheduling, and coordinate resources to keep projects on track.

The role requires a two-year degree or training, with at least 1 year of experience. You will work with crews and subcontractors, manage safety programs, and help ensure quality and compliance throughout

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree or training required.
  • 1+ year experience preferred.
  • Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
  • Beginner knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawings & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available.
  • Assist with shop drawing analysis, design specifications, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling; identify risks to budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections; document activities.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and cost coding with finance and accounting teams.
  • Review and approve daily timecards with office manager and supervisors.
  • Review project specifications for QA at all stages; manage permits and inspections.
  • Plan field layout with crews; mark utilities and obtain permits as needed.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and lead safety meetings.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
  • Assist with shop drawing analysis, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities in Company approved methods and technologies.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review and approve daily timecards for all Company construction crews. Work with Office Manager, payroll and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries, as needed.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
  • Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiate and manage any permits needed before work can begin.
  • Conduct required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel. Attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; present field analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
What We Are Looking For
