McGrath-5 in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a Construction Technician to handle maintenance, remodeling, and prep work for customer-site delivery. You will perform varied tasks across carpentry, plumbing, and electrical disciplines while following safety protocols and company standards.

Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm. Candidates should have construction experience and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan with company match.

Responsibilities

• Install structures or fixtures (windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim) per plan and code.
• Perform maintenance in plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, ceiling, electrical.
• Remodel or modify modular buildings.
• Demolish or construct walls, framing, drywall, finish-out.
• Light electrical work: bulbs, wiring, outlets.
• Light plumbing work: install/modify pipes and fixtures.
• General cleaning and prep of units.

“A Day in the Life”

As a Construction Technician,you will be responsible for general maintenance, cleaning, general construction, remodeling work and preparation of buildings for delivery to customer sites.

“What You’ll Do”

• Installation of structures or fixtures such as windows, doors, frames, floorings, trim or hardware using hand or power tools per plan, drawings and to current relevant building code
• Perform maintenance service, repairs and construction in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, ceiling and electrical and other specialties
• Perform construction work related to remodeling or modifying modular buildings
• Demolish, replace or construct walls, including framing, drywall and other finish-out functions
• Light electrical work; changing bulbs, rewiring or adjusting wiring within a frame or wiring for new connections, switches and outlets
• Light plumbing work; removing, remodeling or installing new plumbing pipes and fixtures
• General cleaning, scrubbing, and mopping of units
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements as noted on building plans or reasonably implied
• Participate in and practice 6S and Lean company initiative in the workplace
• Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm
• Performs other duties as assigned

“Must Haves”

• Prior experience in construction or related work required
• Ability to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth, etc. as it relates to construction and accuracy of specs and requirements
• Ability to follow spoken and written instruction and work in fast paced construction environment with minimal guidance from leads or supervisors
• Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand Company’s safety policies and procedures
• Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company’s construction standards
• Able to take, record and follow standard measurements and cut or separate materials to specific measurements or quantities
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects

“Nice to Haves”

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other specialties a plus
• Industrial warehouse experience with construction‑grade materials and equipment, preferred

• Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day

Physical Requirements & Role Expectations

• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate varying weather, temperatures, and job site conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and safely navigate modular buildings, storage/office containers, inventory yards, storage areas, and work sites.
• Ability to perform physical activities for extended periods, including walking, inspecting equipment, reviewing inventory assets, and performing hands-on tasks.
• Sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely and effectively operate tools, equipment, computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
• Ability to visually inspect modular buildings, inventory assets, labels, equipment, and documentation to identify discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns.
