Job summary

Marand Builders, Inc. is seeking a General Contractor Construction Superintendent to oversee ground-up projects from inception to completion. This role may require travel to multiple job sites across the region.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Construction Superintendent to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion. This role may require travel.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• At least a year of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.

• A Construction OSHA 30 within the last 5 years or ability to renew

Requirements

• Leadership: individual needs to have the ability to supervise and lead the team.
• Organization: individual should be able to schedule and supervise multi-tasking work of a multi-member team.
• Experience: individual should have required and proven knowledge in commercial building, construction, and related sectors.
• Scope of Work: individual should have experience with program oversight on minor interior renovations work, minor MEP replacement work, finish work (including paint, flooring, millwork, ACT, etc.) and ATM projects (basic pad and electrical installs) in the $50K-$500K valuation range.
• Safety: A Superintendent Level 1 is required, at a minimum, to possess a valid OSHA 30 card at all times while working on Marand projects. Level 1 Superintendents will be registered by Marand, upon employment, for OSHA 30 certification.
• Problem-Solving: individual should have and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
• Communication: individual should possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills not only with team members, but also with the Project Management and the Customer.
• Computer Skills: individual needs to be computer literate and should have basic computer knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook software.
• OSHA-30 Hour Training Required as well as recertification every 5 years per Marand policy
• The successful Construction Project Superintendent should have the minimum of a High School Diploma. A Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year College or University or an Associate’s Degree from a Vocational School is a plus.
• Travel is a requirement of this job. Travel can be up to 75%

Responsibilities

• Enforcing safety compliance (OSHA and Marand safety plan and policies) and advocating for safety is the number one priority.
• Superintendent to supervise the work completed on project job sites and convey project plans to subs.
• Completion of punch list items in a time frame consistent with the customer’s requirements and the project budget. Procore for punch list management
• Writes project documentation. These documents include field documentation like look ahead reports, safety, and office documentation such as timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensures the successful and on-time completion and delivery of the project. This includes providing accurate progress reports and thorough look-ahead reports to General Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Directs subcontractors to submit change orders to the project manager for approval.
• Adherence to the project plans and the customer’s contract specifications and requirements.
• Supervises and reports the progress of the work through the use of Procore.
• Supervises and ensures the health and safety of the workers by enforcing all company, state, and federal guidelines.
• Leads safety toolbox talks weekly
• Supervises the construction project and the workers and ensures that the quality of work and materials is upheld.
• Performs the general inspection of the workers and their work against project plans, specifications, and submittals.
• Ensures that the safety rules and regulations are met properly and conducts a weekly safety inspection in Procore.
• Coordinates with the government inspectors on the standard requirements of the site in terms of licenses and safety.
• Supervises the subcontractors and ensure that they are punctual and meet scheduling deadlines.
• Ensures overall cleanliness of the jobsite to Marand’s standards.
• Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical Demands

• The individual typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
• The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.
• Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
• Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement. Some offices contain an elevator, but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies.

Work Environment

The job is performed indoors in a variety of settings, including the office, interior building job sites, and job sites outside. While performing the duties of this job on a construction job site, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles (before the use of air scrubbers); outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee may potentially run the risk of being exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses and vest) and safety gear (including appropriate clothing, shoes, and gloves) are required on job sites.
