Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is seeking a Superintendent Intern/Co-op to gain hands-on field experience across the full project lifecycle. You will work with experienced field professionals on site mobilization through project completion, while learning scheduling, safety culture, and quality control in a fast-paced design-build environment.

You’ll participate in daily safety meetings, assist with coordination, document progress, and attend planning discussions.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• Driver's License is required
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
• Previous Co-op or intern experience in construction is preferred but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Field Operations – exposure to daily site activities from mobilization to completion
• Safety Leadership – participate in daily safety meetings and site inspections
• Scheduling & Coordination – assist with subcontractor coordination and progress monitoring
• Quality Control – observe inspections to ensure work meets plans and standards
• Trade Coordination – work with superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing
• Progress Documentation – document daily activities and take progress photos
• Project Meetings – attend subcontractor coordination meetings and owner walkthroughs
• Plan & Drawing Review – learn construction drawings and shop drawings in field use
• Job Site Walks – monitor progress and identify issues while ensuring safety
• Training & Learning – participate in offsite trainings and biweekly sessions
• Team Collaboration – partner with Project Managers to align office and field operations

Education

Undergraduate or graduate program in Civil/Mechanical/Architectural/Construction Management/Building Science

Driver's License

Strong communication & attention to detail

Co-op or internship experience in construction (preferred)

GPA 3.0+ (preferred)

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Superintendent Intern/Co-op, every day brings a new lesson. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project while working alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your growth.

Here’s What You Can Expect

• Field Operations – Gain exposure to how ARCO manages daily job site activities from site mobilization through project completion.


• Safety Leadership – Participate in daily safety meetings, job site inspections, and learn how to promote and maintain a strong safety culture.


• Scheduling & Coordination – Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities and monitoring progress to help keep projects on schedule.


• Quality Control – Observe and support quality inspections to ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and ARCO standards.


• Site Logistics


• Trade Coordination – Work with Superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing, resolve field issues, and maintain productive workflows.


• Progress Documentation – Assist with documenting daily job site activities, taking progress photos, and preparing daily reports.


• Project Meetings – Attend subcontractor coordination meetings, owner walkthroughs, and project planning discussions to see how field teams communicate and solve challenges.


• Plan & Drawing Review – Become familiar with construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings while learning how they are applied in the field.


• Job Site Walks – Conduct site walks with experienced Superintendents to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and verify work is performed safely and correctly.


• Training & Learning – Participate in offsite trainings and biweekly learning sessions provided by the Learning and Development team.


• Team Collaboration – Partner with Project Managers and field teams to understand how office and field operations work together to successfully deliver projects.

Necessary Qualifications
