Traveling Construction Superintendent – Restaurant Projects
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from site mobilization through final turnover. This position is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who is comfortable traveling, managing subcontractors in the field, and taking ownership of fast-moving projects.
Restaurant construction experience is a must. Candidates should have previous experience overseeing the construction, renovation, or build-out of restaurants, quick-service restaurants (QSR), fast-food locations, or similar food-service facilities.
Location Flexibility
You do not need to live in Pittsburgh. Because this is a traveling position, candidates may live approximately 4–5 hours outside of the Pittsburgh area. We are open to qualified Superintendents throughout the surrounding region, including candidates based in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, the Washington DC area, and Virginia.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Take ownership of field operations for commercial restaurant construction projects
- Manage projects on-site from initial startup through completion and turnover
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors and trades to keep work moving according to schedule
- Review architectural, civil, and construction plans to ensure work is completed according to specifications
- Coordinate material deliveries, inspections, vendors, and other site activities
- Identify potential scheduling or construction issues and address them before they cause delays
- Monitor workmanship and ensure projects meet established quality expectations
- Maintain a safe, professional, and well-organized construction site
- Provide regular progress updates and maintain required field documentation, photos, and daily reporting
- Work closely with project management, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
- Oversee punch-list work, final inspections, and project closeout
- Maintain accountability for company equipment, materials, and resources assigned to the project
What We're Looking For
- Previous Superintendent experience in commercial construction
- Must have restaurant construction experience, including ground-up construction, renovations, build-outs, QSR, fast-food, or similar restaurant projects
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
- Ability to read and work from architectural and civil drawings
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently manage priorities and keep projects moving
- Comfortable with basic computer programs, email, electronic reporting, and project documentation
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- OSHA, equipment, or forklift experience/training is beneficial
This is a travel-heavy Superintendent position supporting commercial restaurant projects throughout the region. Overnight travel is a regular part of the role, and Superintendents should be comfortable staying near active projects for one to three weeks at a time, depending on project needs.
All business-related travel expenses are paid by the company, and per diem is provided.
