Job summary

Hui Huliau Staffing, DBA: Hui Huliau Services seeks a Construction Superintendent to manage daily job-site operations in Oklahoma City. You will supervise direct labor, oversee contracted work, and coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure on-time completion.

Occasional travel to sites is required. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Federal Government construction experience, a high school diploma (associates or bachelor's preferred), and USACE familiarity.

Qualifications

  • US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) experience.

  • CPR/First Aid/Blood Born Pathogen certificate.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities on construction sites.

Responsibilities

Description:

Job Summary: The Construction Superintendent supports the construction management team and is responsible for the daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. Supervises all direct labor positions on the assigned project. Manages and oversees all contracted work on the site to ensure successful project completion. There will be occasional travel to construction sites.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
  • Interact with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule; develop and utilize "look ahead" schedules to assess progress and spot upcoming issues.
  • Coordinate the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Ensure all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress.
  • Meet with and directs supervisory personnel engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Meet regularly with craft personnel to update them on construction issues and to gather input for solutions.
  • Meet with subcontractors prior to the sub's mobilization to review scope of work and schedule; also, advises subs prior to each phase of work on schedule and phasing requirements.
  • Meet regularly with clients to update them on the project's progress.
  • Work with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the project workforce.
  • Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel and/or inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and to improve construction methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and to construction schedules.
  • Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used and costs and adjust work schedules accordingly.
  • Work with the Project Manager to move personnel from project to project, minimizing hiring and layoffs; responsible for crew mixes and work assignments to manage labor costs; may terminate company craft personnel not performing according to company policies, procedures, or other job requirements.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards with Federal Government, State, City & County work.
  • Familiarity with basic safety rules and regulations, OSHA and Army Corp EM-385.
  • Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints accurately.
  • Has good understanding and knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills; expresses ideas clearly and effectively; uses proper grammar and syntax.
  • Is professional: displays appropriate appearance and professional conduct; makes a good impression on others.
  • Shows initiative and actively tries to influence events to achieve goals; is a self-starter, working well with minimal supervision; strives to achieve goals beyond minimal levels of performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' Federal Government construction experience.
  • High School Diploma Required. Associate or Bachelors preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) experience.
  • CPR/First Aid/Blood Born Pathogen certificate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Construction or office setting, must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for longs periods of time, lift and hold up to 50 lbs., talk, hear and sit.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site to view construction activity in all types of weather. Subject to hot, cold, humid and wet conditions depending on location.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other business machines.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk varying distances.
  • At times climb ladders or pick up materials.

This position will generally encompass a standard work week spanning Monday through Friday during regular business hours unless stated otherwise
