Job summary

Gardner Builders is seeking a hands-on Superintendent to lead on-site construction in Milwaukee across healthcare, commercial interiors, and more. You will coordinate field teams, manage schedules, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery while upholding hospitality and client relationships.

You will drive daily site operations, keep projects on track, and foster a collaborative, professional jobsite culture that reflects our values.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, trade scopes, and site logistics.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, commercial interiors, industrial, higher education, historical/repositioning, mission-critical, and/or life science construction.
  • Experience coordinating field teams and managing schedules.
  • OSHA certification is required or preferred.

How You’ll Contribute

As a Superintendent at Gardner Builders, you'll be the on‑site lead for construction operations -balancing the details, managing field teams, and serving as a point of connection between trade partners, clients, and your internal project team. From the start of a project through closeout, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating daily site operations across multiple project.
  • Managing schedules, sequencing work, and ensuring progress aligns with project goals.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized jobsite.
  • Driving quality by proactively identifying and resolving issues before they become problem.
  • Communicating with trade partners, field staff, and project managers to ensure alignment.
  • Hosting weekly foremen meetings to keep everyone informed and on track.
  • Ordering materials, scheduling inspections, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Acting as a visible, responsive, and reliable presence on site.
  • Jumping in as needed to solve problems quickly, professionally, and collaboratively.

You’ll also be a role model for safety and hospitality, setting the tone for a positive, productive jobsite culture.

What You’ll Bring
  • 5-10 years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, trade scopes, and site logistics.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, commercial interiors, industrial, higher education, historical/repositioning, mission‑critical, and/or life science construction.
  • A humble, team‑oriented approach and the ability to manage several tasks at once while keeping a cool head.
  • Confidence in reading plans, coordinating teams, and adapting to change.
  • OSHA certification.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, construction platforms like Procore, Google tools, Microsoft Office tools, and Apple devices.
  • Ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience in drywall, finish carpentry, or millwork.
  • Experience scheduling integrated teams using Outbuild scheduling software (or similar, ie Privmavera P6, Microsoft Project, etc).
  • Experience leading integrated teams on complex renovation projects.
  • Deep knowledge of safety protocols and permitting processes.
  • A proactive, problem‑solving mindset—and a calm presence when things get tough.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 annual salary (paid weekly) + discretionary bonus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role is active and hands‑on. You'll spend most of your time on construction sites, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, crouching, kneeling, and occasionally lifting materials. You’ll need clear vision, good hearing, and strong communication to stay safe and effective. Some desk time is required for updating schedules, reviewing plans, and sending project updates.

You’ll work in a mix of environments—from climate‑controlled buildings to outdoor sites in all kinds of weather. Renovation projects may involve exposure to existing materials or conditions that require extra precautions. PPE is provided and expected when needed. Sites can be loud, dusty, and fast‑paced, and we count on our superintendents to lead with safety and professionalism.
