Sargent is searching for Superintendents in the Piedmont-Triad area. Responsibilities
  • Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management on a construction project site, including scheduling, coordination, supervision and safe work practices for all project activities, including Sargent and subcontractor personnel.
  • Supervise construction efforts to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget and schedule constraints, interfacing with the client, client representatives, inspectors, governmental officials, other contractors, suppliers and field staff.
  • Effectively plan, direct and supervise workers engaged in construction activities.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and create a culture of safety with clear guidance on how tasks should be performed.
  • Provide safety feedback and coaching to foremen and crews; ensure all subcontractors follow company safety policies.
  • Maintain awareness of onsite safety hazards and conduct weekly safety training for employees.
  • Understand project requirements ahead of time (one week to three months) and implement all construction aspects of the contract and project procedures.
  • Interpret and explain construction plans to foremen and crews; maintain contract submittal files and confirm materials ordered, delivered and installed per submittals.
  • Maintain contract documents and prepare/maintain record drawings; coordinate utility locations with Dig Safe and ensure markings are maintained.
  • Minimize resource and cost surprises; ensure crews have the best available resources at the correct time.
  • Promote continuous production improvement and ensure the project team is informed of production expectations and potential issues with customers.
  • Manage subcontractors and provide feedback on subcontractor performance; coordinate work across crews, departments and other contractors.
  • Support and demonstrate consistency with company policies; establish and maintain relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, owners and engineers.
  • Document quality control inspections and conduct investigations of incidents and accidents; evaluate employees periodically and mentor potential replacements when possible.
  • Represent Sargent in a positive manner to the community and clients.
  • Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Qualifications

Physical And Environmental Requirements
  • Stand or walk frequently for long durations; lift and carry materials and tools up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb stairs and ladders; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in construction areas, including confined spaces.
  • Rake, shovel and dig with hand tools; operate vibratory equipment such as tampers.
  • Vision of 20/40, with or without corrective lenses; hearing adequate for on-site work.
  • Meet the physical requirements to safely perform duties for up to 12 hours a day in hot and cold weather conditions.
