Job summary

Barton Malow in the greater Richmond area is seeking a Construction Safety Manager to plan, coordinate, and enforce safety across our sports, healthcare, higher-ed, and large-scale commercial projects.

You will work closely with project teams, implement safety plans, lead safety meetings, conduct inspections, and ensure OSHA compliance, with travel to project sites throughout the Richmond area as required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction safety experience in a similar role.
• OSHA 510 certification preferred
• OSHA 30 certification
• Flexibility to travel to the project sites throughout the greater Richmond, VA area

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits on a project site. Corrects or abates basic hazards, unsafe acts, safety violations, or safety issues.
• Executes project safety plans, Barton Malow safety manual policies and procedures, as well as OSHA standards on a project.
• May lead or facilitatesafety meetings and orientations. Participate in project leadership meetings for the presentation and dissemination of project safety matters.
• Conducts and/or reviews inspections of machines, tools, equipment, vehicles, and safety equipment. Possesses Competent Person status for such equipment to determine proper action and disposition based on inspections.
• Leads or performs incident investigations for all types of incidents and compiles documentation and summaries of such investigations

You’ll work closely with project teams and receive guidance from senior safety leadership, ensuring that every jobsite meets Barton Malow’s high standards and complies with OSHA regulations.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits on a project site. Corrects or abates basic hazards, unsafe acts, safety violations, or safety issues. Effectively addresses basic project safety concerns that may develop or exist. Consult the Safety Manager or above to resolve any safety matters that are not basic or have project‑only implications.
• Executes project safety plans, Barton Malow safety manual policies and procedures, as well as OSHA standards on a project.
• May leador facilitatesafety meetings and orientations. Participate in project leadership meetings for the presentation and dissemination of project safety matters.
• Conducts and/or reviews inspections of machines, tools, equipment, vehicles, and safety equipment. Possesses Competent Person status for such equipment to determine proper action and disposition based on inspections.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• 3+ years of construction safety experience in a similar role
• OSHA 510 certification preferred

• Flexibility to travel to the project sites throughout the greater Richmond, VA area
