Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Safety Intern to assist on construction projects or office locations in Toledo, OH. You will support safety programs, report hazards, coordinate meetings, and help document safety records under supervisor guidance.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Occupational Safety & Health or related degree, with basic safety knowledge and strong communication skills, prepared to work standard hours with potential overtime in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in college/university safety, engineering, or related field with at least 1 year completed.
• Basic safety and environmental principles knowledge.
• Desire to learn construction management and industry exposure.
• Flexible to work standard hours and overtime as assigned.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing safety programs and life safety initiatives on site or in office.
• Identify and report safety violations and imminent hazards.
• Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning, and toolbox meetings.
• Assist with safety training and orientation activities.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Promote safe work practices in line with regulations and owner requirements.
• Assist with drug screening administration and recordkeeping.
• Document meetings and maintain safety records and incident metrics.
• Support worker orientation and participation tracking.
