Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking a Construction Safety Director to lead site safety across multiple EPC contractors and vendors on complex projects. You will develop site-specific safety plans, conduct field inspections, lead incident investigations, and coordinate safety performance across simultaneous operations to ensure OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of construction safety experience.
  • 5+ years in a Construction Safety Director, Site Safety Manager, or similar role.
  • Pharmaceutical/biotech/process-manufacturing construction experience preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
  • OSHA 500 certification preferred.
  • OSHA 510, CSP, CHST, or CIH certifications preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction safety oversight for EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment installers.
  • Develop and maintain the Site-Specific Safety Plan and project safety procedures.
  • Review contractor safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses, pre-task plans, lift plans, and high-risk work plans.
  • Conduct field inspections, safety audits, and contractor observations.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination of high-risk activities.
  • Enforce OSHA and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Oversee permit-to-work activities, including hot work, confined space, excavation, energized work, line breaking, and work at height.
  • Monitor fall protection, scaffolding, cranes, rigging, heavy equipment, trenching, temporary power, electrical safety, and lockout/tagout.
  • Verify contractor training records, competent-person qualifications, and equipment-operator certifications.
  • Track incidents, near misses, observations, corrective actions, and safety metrics.
  • Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
  • Coordinate safety across simultaneous operations and multiple contractors.
  • Provide safety oversight during equipment installation, energization, pressure testing, commissioning, and chemical introduction.
  • Prepare contractor safety reports and performance scorecards.

Knowledge & Skills Required
  • OSHA construction standards.
  • Site-specific safety planning and contractor safety management.

  • Field inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective-action tracking.
  • Fall protection, scaffolding, cranes and rigging, excavation, confined space, hot work, LOTO, and electrical safety.
  • Safety oversight of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process piping, utilities, and equipment installation.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-contractor industrial construction projects.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of construction safety experience.
  • 5+ years in a Construction Safety Director, Site Safety Manager, or similar role.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or process-manufacturing construction experience preferred.

The salary range for this full-time role is $115,700.00-$161,966.69 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
