Job summary

Colonial Group in Florida seeks a Construction Road Technician to service and repair construction and agricultural equipment at customer sites, ensuring operation per manufacturer specifications.

You will diagnose, rebuild, and maintain equipment, traveling 100% to sites while upholding Briggs Earth & Ag standards and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Mechanical or trade school certificate is preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in heavy line equipment repair or related industry is preferred.
• Heavy line equipment and warranty repair knowledge preferred (Cummings, Perkins, Yanmar, Kohler).
• Ability to read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators or bore gauges.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment, including diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulics, brakes, steering, electrical, lifting systems, etc.
• Rebuild and repair components and systems in construction and agriculture equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines, properly lock out tag out, and disassemble equipment as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment runs per manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems.
• Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and safety concerns.
• Record maintenance, repair work, parts used and warranty paperwork in a timely manner.
• Complete basic and advanced technical training as assigned.
• Maintain parts and supplies on company vehicles for job completion.
• Keep company vehicle clean and in safe operating condition; complete vehicle checklists.
• Maintain a culture of safety and participate in safety meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Construction Road Technician performs service and repairs on construction and agriculture equipment at customer sites to ensure equipment runs according to manufacturer’s specifications. Ensures all Briggs Earth & Ag standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Diagnose and repair equipment, to include diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems, lifting systems, etc.
2. Rebuild and/or repair all components and systems in construction and agriculture equipment and other related equipment
3. Per company safety guidelines, properly block, lock out tag out, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair
4. Perform routine and operational maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications
5. Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems
6. Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns
7. Record maintenance, repair work, parts used on job, and warranty paperwork in a timely manner
8. Complete basic and advanced technical training as assigned
9. Maintain parts and supplies on company vehicles as needed for job completion
10. Maintain company vehicle cleanliness and ensure vehicle is in safe operating condition; complete vehicle checklist as required
11. Maintain a culture of safety & participate in all safety meetings
12. Perform other related duties as assigned

minimum qualifications

Basic Knowledge & Competencies:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Thorough knowledge of heavy equipment & operations that apply to the branch
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and problem solving skills
• Basic computer aptitude
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Previous Experience/Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred
• 3+ years’ experience in heavy line equipment repair or related industry preferred
• Heavy line equipment and warranty repair knowledge preferred (Cummings, Perkins, Yanmar, and Kohler engines)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• 100% travel to customer sites
• Must furnish own tools for performing needed repairs to equipment
