Job summary

GHD is seeking a Resident Project Representative (or Construction Inspector) for our US East Water operations, based from Chantilly, VA or Bowie, MD. This onsite role focuses on water and wastewater construction, coordinating between the Owner, Contractor and project team to ensure contract compliance and quality.

You will perform field verification, review submittals, and oversee testing while maintaining project documentation and schedules.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of experience in general contracting, construction inspection and/or construction management, focused on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Strong communication with clients, Owners and Contractors; proficient with MS Word, Excel and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Represent GHD as on-site liaison between construction manager, Owner and Contractor.
• Provide on-site observation of construction activities and review products against submittals.
• Coordinate and oversee third-party materials testing and site coordination meetings.
• Maintain on-site redline drawings and assist with contract closeout documentation.

Who are we looking for?

Our US East Water business has an opening for a Resident Project Representative (or Construction Inspector) whose experience is focused in the area of water and wastewater facility and pipeline construction. As a Project Representative (Inspector), you will be responsible for performing field verification of conformance with contract documents for medium and large water and wastewater projects managed from our Bowie, MD and/or Chantilly, VA offices. Projects may include water distribution lines, gravity sewer lines, wastewater pump stations, and water and wastewater treatment plants.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:Represent GHD as the on-site primary liaison between the construction manager, Owner and the Contractor throughout construction of the projectProvide on-site observation of construction activities including reviewing products against approved submittalsAdminister weekly onsite coordination meetings with the Contractor, Owner, and other stakeholdersCoordinate and oversee third-party materials testing, including but not limited to soils and concreteWork with client operations staff, as required, to coordinate shutdowns and other construction activities that affect Owner operationsMaintain an on-site set of redline drawings documenting final installed materials/equipment along with any project deviationsAssist with contract closeout documentationAssist in construction schedule reviewsAcquire and maintain all certificates, submittals, testing reports, operations and maintenance manuals, and other related construction correspondenceUtilize GHD web-based document management system, or alternative document management systems deemed appropriate by project team for all construction documentation including submittals, RFIs, change management, daily field reports, inspections, and any other contract documentation.

What you will bring to the team

High School Diploma / GED; degrees, certifications, and other documented training and education is a plus8-15 years of experience in general contracting, construction inspection and/or construction management, with a focus on water, wastewater, and stormwater projectsExperience with reading and understanding construction plans and specificationsFamiliar with the current standards and specifications for Soil Erosion & Sediment ControlFamiliar with various construction means and methods of pipeline identification, tracing, pressure testing, and installation proceduresExperience working with multiple subcontractors and demonstrated effective communication with clients, Owners and ContractorsStrong computer skills with the ability to use multiple platforms and devices for documentation and communication, such as MS Word, Excel, and Teams and tablets, cameras, and mobile devices.Able and willing to work in the field 90-100% of the time

• Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

• Salary Range: $29.50-$49.50 based on experience and location.
