Job summary

Benesch in Wisconsin is seeking a Construction Representative to oversee daily inspection and documentation of infrastructure projects, including road, water main, and sewer work.

You will manage client relationships and contribute to strategic initiatives for the construction group, with emphasis on budget and schedule alignment and effective field operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or related curriculum required; EIT preferred.
• 0–3 years of experience with WisDOT is preferred.
• Field project experience is desirable.
• Experience with ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organization and ability to work within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review and assure project supervisor of budget and schedule adequacy.
• Perform construction observation of activities and follow project procedures.
• Maintain a field book per project procedures.
• Take measurements of construction work performed and calculate pay item quantities.
• Prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports and other required project documentation.
• Report progress to the project supervisor, noting deficiencies and risks.

Construction Representative

We have a career opportunity for a Construction Representative who will work with a broad range of construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily inspection and documentation of infrastructure projects, including road, water main, and sewer construction, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. As a Construction Representative, you will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.

The Impact You Will Have:

• Review and assure project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule.
• Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures.
• Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.
• Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.
• Prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor.
• Report to the project supervisor on the progress of work, including technical issues, the status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies.
• Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
• Maintain company-owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project.

What You Will Need:

• BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or in a related engineering curriculum required, EIT preferred.
• 0-3 years of working experience with WisDOT is preferred.
• Experience working on field projects desired.
• Experience utilizing ArcGIS, MicroStation, and Geopak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
• Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
• Good driving record and valid driver's license.
