Salary Range

$76,299.00 - $122,078.00 Annually

Job Summary

A Construction Project Supervisor II oversees and coordinates the implementation of all construction contracts assigned to a section. Work of this class involves directing inspection work units.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional work week. Work is performed primarily in an office where there are few uncomfortable working conditions; however, there is occasional exposure to noise, hazardous equipment and extremes of weather when at construction sites. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

AND

Experience: Have five years of experience in construction inspection, construction supervision or construction engineering including two years of such supervisory responsibilities as disciplining, evaluating the performance of and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.

OR

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-supervisory experience or education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and materials.
  • Knowledge of construction contract administration.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to deal effectively with contractors, engineers, architects and representatives of utility companies and government agencies.
  • Ability to interpret and explain City contract procedures.
  • Supervisory ability.
  • Ability to utilize the computer and business software packages to analyze workflow reports and to prepare technical correspondence.
Additional Information
Background Check

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.

Probation

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.

Eligibility

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

Education Accreditation

Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.

Examination Process
