Job summary

Michels Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. seeks a Construction Project Manager - MEP to lead planning, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Controls for large-scale data centers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical/Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of project management or construction experience on data center, mission-critical, or large commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and coordination across disciplines.

Responsibilities

Lead the Delivery of Mission-Critical MEP Infrastructure

Position Overview
As aConstruction Project Manager - MEP, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Controls construction activities for large-scale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects. You will oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractor performance, procurement activities, and customer relationships while ensuring critical MEP systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. This role requires strong knowledge of MEP construction practices, system integration, commissioning requirements, and project execution strategies. Success requires effective leadership, financial management, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives. This position is ideal for a construction professional who enjoys leading complex MEP construction projects from preconstruction through startup, commissioning, and project turnover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of MEP construction scopes across mission-critical and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, equipment vendors, field leadership, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, submittals, and construction documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Support proposal development, procurement activities, constructability reviews, and project execution planning efforts.
  • Identify project risks, coordination challenges, schedule impacts, and constructability concerns while developing practical solutions.
  • Ensure MEP construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

What You'll Do

  • Manage MEP construction activities supporting hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure developments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, field operations, procurement, commissioning, quality, and project controls teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project reviews involving HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, electrical distribution, backup power systems, controls, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, procurement, startup, commissioning, and execution strategies to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, financial performance, productivity metrics, and stakeholder commitments to support successful project outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders while serving as a trusted leader throughout project delivery.

What It Takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline and 5+ years of project management or construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing MEP construction scopes on data center, mission-critical, industrial, healthcare, utility, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and building systems associated with complex facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, submittals, schedules, contracts, and construction documentation.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, equipment vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project execution.
  • Experience supporting estimating efforts, procurement planning, constructability reviews, commissioning efforts, and project execution strategies.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination platforms and tools such as Navisworks, Revit, Bluebeam, and similar construction technologies.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
  • Commissioning experience, mission-critical construction experience, or data center experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, forecasts, change orders, and financial performance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder groups.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and support onsite project assignments as required.
