Job summary

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is seeking a full-time Construction Project Manager to lead housing builds in Lamoille and Chittenden counties, Vermont. You will oversee all phases from permitting to occupancy, coordinating with partners, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure safety and efficiency.

Retired builders are encouraged to apply. The role reports to the Director of Real Estate and Construction, with a schedule Monday–Friday and some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience managing residential construction projects within budget.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Knowledge of building and energy codes.
• Strong scheduling and multi-tasking abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Leads volunteers on-site with safety focus.
• Professional demeanor with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain.
• Minimum five years of construction experience.
• Positive, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Review site plans and building plans with third-party experts.
• Establish construction timeline and manage budgets.
• Solicit and procure materials through bids and donations.
• Supervise on-site volunteers with safety and engagement.
• Supervise and develop on-site construction apprentices.
• Coordinate staffing and track volunteer hours and waivers.
• Work with directors to secure permits and inspections.
• Support Family Services Coordinator with final walk-throughs.
• Hire and oversee subcontractors.
• Oversee all phases from excavation to occupancy.
