Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree; preferred in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects through influence and drive accountability across contractors, developers/landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
  • Practical construction technology and methods
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and execute complex phased planning and construction schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to recognize construction risk, evaluate alternatives and drive issues to resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent construction projects and priorities in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed environment.
  • Experience with ground-up/new store construction, retail remodels, expansions and/or developer/landlord-built projects preferred.
  • Ability to travel weekly

Responsibilities

  • Oversee bidding, contracting, and payment processes for Food Lion-contracted projects, ensuring compliance and timely execution.
  • Coordinate the preparation of bid documents, RFQs, and related schedules to minimize risk and cost impact.
  • Manage contracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and invoices for Food Lion-contracted work.
  • Lead change authorization/change order processes to control scope and budget.
  • Oversee redline reviews of ARCH/MEP plans for accuracy and standards conformance.
  • Provide value engineering feedback to improve project cost efficiency.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving ideas and construction methods.
  • Plan stores’ expansion, remodels, and new openings with detailed phase plans and milestones.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Preconstruction/A&E, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress to ensure on-time completion and adherence to prototype standards and lease requirements.
  • Prepare periodic budget reports and track actual vs. committed costs.
  • Lead project meetings, manage risk, and drive timely issue resolution.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed and drive a safe work environment.
  • Finalize project closeout with punch lists, warranties, and occupancy where applicable.
  • Travel weekly to oversee projects; adjust schedules to ensure timely store openings.
