Job summary

SoTalent is seeking a Project Manager with strong concrete operations and financial management experience to oversee multi-million-dollar projects in the Richmond area. You will drive profitability, manage client relationships, and lead project teams from initiation to closeout.

The role requires coordinating execution, budgets, schedules, and contractual requirements while partnering with field leaders to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of project management or operations management experience in commercial concrete construction.
  • Strong background in project financial management and cost control.
  • Experience managing multiple project stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Proven ability to plan, schedule, and deliver large-scale concrete construction projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from preconstruction planning through closeout, coordinating scope, schedule, and execution.
  • Manage project budgets, costs, and financial performance across the lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with field superintendents and subcontractors to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Review contracts, RFIs, and change orders to protect margins and ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams and stakeholders.

Are you a construction leader with strong concrete operations experience, financial management expertise, and a passion for delivering complex projects? This role offers the opportunity to oversee multi-million-dollar concrete projects, drive profitability, manage client relationships, and lead project teams within a performance-driven organization.

As the primary operational leader, you will coordinate project execution, manage budgets and schedules, oversee contractual requirements, and partner with field superintendents to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery.

The Project Manager serves as the central point of accountability for project performance, financial success, client satisfaction, and operational execution.

This role provides significant autonomy and leadership responsibility, allowing you to influence project strategy, mentor teams, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute directly to company growth and profitability.

  • Manage project budgets and overall financial performance.

Forecasting & Cost Analysis

  • Review project financial metrics and performance indicators.

Client & Stakeholder Management
Customer Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.

Pre-Construction & Alignment Meetings
  • Organize and lead critical project meetings with:

  • Ensure all parties are aligned on scope, schedule, safety, and execution requirements.
Contract Administration
RFI Management
  • Create, track, manage, and close Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Coordinate responses with owners, engineers, and design teams.
  • Resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize delays.
Change Order Administration
  • Identify and evaluate scope changes.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders.
  • Maximize revenue recovery opportunities.
Contract Compliance
  • Ensure project execution aligns with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor risk exposure and contractual performance.
  • Resolve scope conflicts and contractual disputes professionally.
Field Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Collaborate daily with field superintendents to support project success.
  • Ensure field teams have the resources, information, and direction needed to execute effectively.
  • Address operational challenges and remove obstacles.
Team Development
  • Provide guidance and leadership to project teams.
  • Support development of assistant project managers and junior team members.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
