Construction Project Manager
Position Summary
Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all phases of heavy highway general contracts, primarily MassDOT projects; from award through final closeout. Projects include roadway reconstruction, highway and bridge construction, milling and paving, site work, utility installation, drainage improvements, traffic management, and other public infrastructure work. Ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, company standards, and client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Manage multiple heavy highway construction projects simultaneously.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, permits, and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Prepare and monitor project production goals and performance metrics.
- Coordinate resources, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to meet project objectives.
- Lead project startup, progress, and closeout meetings.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate subcontractors.
- Financial Management
- Prepare and manage project budgets and cost reports.
- Monitor job costs, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material expenditures.
- Review subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy and approval.
- Prepare monthly billings, estimates, and revenue projections.
- Identify and manage cost risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and negotiate change orders and contract modifications.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, municipalities, and agencies.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Attend owner meetings and provide project status updates.
- Resolve project issues and disputes in a professional and timely manner.
- Field Operations Leadership
- Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to ensure efficient project execution.
- Support daily construction activities and production planning.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.
- Safety and Compliance
- Promote a culture of safety throughout all project activities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, environmental regulations, and client requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, investigations, and corrective action planning.
- Ensure maintenance of permits, traffic control requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Contract Administration
- Interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and proposal documents.
- Manage subcontract agreements and supplier contracts.
- Maintain project documentation including correspondence, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and change orders.
- Track project risks and contractual obligations.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5–10 years of construction management experience, preferably in heavy highway, roadway, bridge, utility, or civil construction.
- Proven experience managing DOT, municipal, and public infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, means, and sequencing.
- Experience with public bidding and government‑funded contracts.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- Experience with MassDOT or similar state transportation agencies preferred.
- Experience with federally funded infrastructure projects.

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: $100,000–$135,000 (based on experience) + bonus potential.
