Job Title

Project Manager – Construction (Non-IT)

Job Description

This contract-to-hire role offers an on-site Project Manager the opportunity to lead capital construction and renovation projects within advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in Buffalo, West Virginia and Princeton, Indiana. You will manage projects from concept through completion, balancing scope, schedule, budget, and quality while ensuring strict adherence to rigorous construction safety requirements. The position combines hands‑on project leadership, stakeholder coordination, and detailed reporting, and offers strong potential for advancement and long‑term growth. The role requires periodic travel to project sites and other account locations and provides support from a broader project and development services team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned capital construction projects and facility studies from initiation through closeout, maintaining control of scope, schedule, budget, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary on‑site contact for general contractors, architects, engineers, and plant stakeholders, building collaborative relationships that keep projects moving forward efficiently.
  • Run requests for proposals (RFPs), lead bid leveling exercises, and support contractor selection processes to ensure competitive and qualified project delivery partners.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets, monitor progress against targets, and proactively elevate risks or potential delays to account leadership.
  • Ensure strict compliance with construction safety programs and Toyota Construction Safety Requirements (TCSR), including managing D‑form approvals, verifying contractor personnel certifications, and maintaining required on‑site presence during high‑risk activities.
  • Lead or support the review and negotiation of change orders to protect project budgets, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, client‑ready status materials, including executive summaries, budget and schedule updates, and progress photography for weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Coordinate with the broader account team to manage cross‑project scheduling conflicts and concurrent high‑risk construction activities across the facility.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation in project management platforms, currently Adaptive Work, while supporting the transition to and use of Procore.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, similar to a Construction Coordinator role but with expanded responsibilities and autonomy.
  • Support knowledge sharing and account‑wide coordination by traveling periodically to other account locations and participating in team meetings.
  • Ensure that construction activities are planned and executed around operational constraints in active manufacturing environments, minimizing disruptions to production.
  • Apply construction management best practices on the project management side, including planning, coordination, and oversight of field execution.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying project risks early, recommending mitigation strategies, and implementing lessons learned on future projects.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration by consistently modeling professional communication and accountability.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in construction project management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial, industrial, or manufacturing construction projects with demonstrated success delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety programs and protocols, with the ability to enforce compliance requirements in an active manufacturing environment.
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification, or willingness to obtain it, with support provided during the assignment.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling and budgeting tools, with working knowledge of platforms such as Adaptive Work, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar project management systems.
  • Proven experience running RFPs and managing multiple construction projects at once, particularly on the project management side of construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise, professional status reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities independently while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel periodically, approximately 10% to 15% of the time, to other project sites and team meetings as needed.
  • Experience working with construction coordination responsibilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor oversight in a field environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Direct experience working within manufacturing or automotive plant environments, ideally with exposure to lean manufacturing principles and operational protocols.
  • Familiarity with Toyota Construction Safety Requirements (TCSR) or similar contractor safety management frameworks used in automotive manufacturing.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other recognized project management credential.
  • Experience managing projects in facilities that maintain 24/7 production schedules, including coordinating construction activities around ongoing operations.
  • Experience working with design‑build, design‑assist, or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) methods.
  • Previous experience with capital projects such as parking lot upgrades, vehicle entrance improvements, and interior renovations like adding dedicated rooms and support spaces.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with plant leadership, contractors, and design teams, and to communicate clearly across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Motivation to grow into expanded responsibilities and advance within a large, complex account environment.
  • Comfort working in a role similar to a Construction Coordinator but with broader project ownership and decision‑making authority.
Work Environment

This is a contract‑to‑hire position based on‑site at automotive manufacturing facilities in Buffalo, West Virginia and Princeton, Indiana, with work generally scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and flexibility as needed to support project activities. You will work in and around active industrial and manufacturing environments where safety, coordination, and adherence to plant protocols are critical. Projects may include parking lot upgrades, vehicle entrance upgrades, the addition of dedicated rooms such as mothers’ rooms, and ground‑up building construction. The role requires regular interaction with field personnel, contractors, and plant operations teams, as well as time spent in office settings for planning, documentation, and reporting. You will use project management technologies such as Adaptive Work and Procore, along with standard scheduling and budgeting tools like Microsoft Project or similar platforms. The position involves periodic travel, approximately 10% to 15%, to other account locations and team meetings to support coordination and knowledge sharing. Professional, safety‑conscious attire and adherence to site‑specific personal protective equipment requirements are expected in the field environment. The work culture emphasizes collaboration, safety, professional growth, and the opportunity to transition from a temporary assignment into a long‑term role, with support provided to obtain OSHA 30‑hour certification if not already held.
