Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Project Lead to oversee day-to-day operations at active construction sites in and around Cowlitz County for a medium size contractor and working directly with the Owner. This position is responsible forleading field crews and subcontractors, coordinating daily work activities, monitoring project progress, maintaining a safe and organized job site, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is comfortable being in the field, directing workers, solving problems as they arise, and keeping multiple trades and crews moving in the right direction.
Wage: $26.00-$32.00 an hour
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily operations of active construction job sites.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and other onsite personnel.
- Assign daily work priorities and ensure employees understand project expectations and deadlines.
- Monitor employee and subcontractor performance, productivity, attendance, and quality of work.
- Conduct daily job-site walkthroughs to identify progress, potential delays, safety concerns, and quality issues.
- Coordinate scheduling of crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
- Ensure work is being completed according to project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Maintain project schedules and adjust manpower and resources as needed to keep projects on track.
- Communicate daily expectations, project changes, and priorities to field personnel.
- Lead job-site meetings and coordinate work between different trades.
- Work closely with foremen and crew leads to resolve job-site challenges quickly.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available when needed to prevent downtime.
- Monitor labor hours and job-site productivity.
- Identify potential delays or problems and develop solutions before they impact the overall project schedule.
- Enforce company safety policies and L&I requirements throughout the job site.
- Ensure workers are using proper PPE and following safe work practices.
- Address employee performance, conduct, attendance, and safety concerns as necessary.
- Inspect completed work to ensure workmanship meets company and customer expectations.
- Coordinate inspections and communicate with inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and customers as needed.
- Maintain an organized, professional, and efficient job site.
- Provide regular progress updates to company leadership and communicate significant issues promptly.
- Maintain basic job-site documentation, including daily reports, manpower counts, progress updates, safety documentation, and change information.
- Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final inspections.
Qualifications
- Previous construction management, foreman, or project management experience required.
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Strong knowledge of construction job-site operations and sequencing of work.
- Proven experience supervising employees, construction crews, and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a productive work environment.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced job-site environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address issues quickly.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and L&I requirements.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for scheduling, email, reporting, and project documentation.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction industry experience.
- 1+ years in a supervisory, foreman, or construction project lead role.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Experience managing projects from site mobilization through final completion.
Physical & Work Environment
- Majority of work will be performed at active construction sites in and around Cowlitz County.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and navigate uneven construction surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment as required.
- Must be comfortable working around construction equipment, machinery, and active work crews.
