Job summary

Orion Marine Group is seeking a Project Engineer with at least 1 year of construction experience for our Houston-area projects. You will support planning, budgeting, scheduling, and field coordination to deliver projects safely and on time.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, managing submittals, logging revisions, and coordinating with PMs, superintendents, and subs. You will help with financials and regulatory coordination while ensuring confidentiality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Construction Management or related discipline; field experience in commercial concrete construction.
  • Working knowledge of Project Engineer functions.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Project, Adobe, PlanGrid.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to interact with all levels.
  • Strong leadership; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning pre-job meetings including plans, specifications, budgets, scheduling, and other items as needed.
  • Assist Project Managers in the management of all assigned jobs.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy against drawings and specs.
  • Distribute drawing revisions to PMs, superintendents and subs; request new drawings as needed.
  • Price revisions and field tickets; update logs with revisions.
  • Maintain RCO and PM Submittal logs for each project.
  • Keep schedules updated; document weather and other delays.
  • Order and verify materials like rebar, shoring, forming, and post-tensioning.
  • Contact Superintendents and visit job sites to identify problems and resolve.
  • Assist PMs with end-of-month financial reports and project status.
  • Prepare project reports for management or clients.
  • Coordinate with government/regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
