Job description

Lead Complex Nuclear Facility Construction

The Construction Project Engineer III is a technical leader responsible for executing the full lifecycle of nuclear facility construction projects—translating design intent into built reality while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at every stage.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret design drawings and specifications, translating engineering deliverables into actionable Construction Work Packages (CWPs) for field personnel.
  • Ensure all field activities strictly adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) guidelines, regulatory codes, and quality assurance plans.
  • Oversee receipt, inspection, and storage of field‑procured materials; track weekly construction quantities and validate progress against the project budget.
  • Manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and field changes, performing trend analyses to mitigate risks that could impact schedules or costs.
  • Act as the technical liaison between superintendents, external design consultants, project controls, and the client.
  • Coordinate with the Startup team to smoothly transition completed systems from construction into operational handover.
  • Assist with growing and developing junior team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering.
  • Deep familiarity with nuclear facility requirements, Department of Energy (DOE) orders, Nuclear Regulatory Committee (NRC), or commercial nuclear standards.
  • Strong communication, risk management, and ability to interpret complex engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help ensure that nobody gets hurt.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with P6 or equivalent schedule software preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in use of MS suite.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including frequent walking, standing, sitting, occasional climbing, bending/crouching, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Location

Oak Ridge, TN

Work Site Expectations

5 days a week onsite

Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Compensation

Salary range: $110,000 – $135,000

Position Classification

Full time – Exempt
