Job summary

Independence Construction is seeking a Project Engineer in Cleveland, OH to support project managers and superintendents on construction projects. You will coordinate with subs, vendors, and the project team; administer contracts; manage meetings; and assist with budgets, schedules, and QA/QC programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering and 2-5 years of related experience, with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of budgeting and expense control.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to organize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

• Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with subs, vendors, and the project team.
• Administer and monitor contracts with owners, subs, and vendors.
• Coordinate materials and services for the job site with the superintendent.
• Schedule and manage meetings through each phase.
• Assist PM with project budget, revisions, and cash flow projections; assist with reports.
• Review drawings and coordinate MEP/architectural/structural elements.
• Assist PM with change management oversight and logs.
• Prepare and analyze subcontractor proposals for scope changes.
• Review costs for scope changes to ensure pricing is fair.
• Log change management to cost codes.
• Issue subcontract change orders upon approval.
• Manage RFI process from initiation to distribution.
• Manage submittal process from initiation to distribution.
• Maintain drawing, submittal, and RFI logs.
• Coordinate owner meetings with PM and superintendent.
• Assist with master schedule updates.
• Support QA/QC program development and execution.
• Assist with project closeout and punch list processes.
• Coordinate warranty requirements during the warranty period.
