Job summary

S.J. Amoroso Construction Co., Inc. seeks an exempt Project Engineer to oversee project administration under the Project Manager.

The role requires urgency and accuracy in delivering results, and may involve marketing company capabilities to potential customers and performing business development activities. Essential duties include maintaining schedules, pricing changes, contract compliance, and obtaining/ submitting drawings, warranties, and operating instructions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in commercial building construction as a Project Engineer.
• College Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Knowledge of contractual obligations, insurance, and general conditions; proficient with Excel, Word and Bluebeam; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, tracks and updates job schedules; communicates with subs and suppliers and reports to project staff.
• Accurately prices and processes changes or proposed changes.
• Ensures compliance with contract documents, quality standards and specifications; manages drawings, warranties, and operating instructions; submits required docs.
• Ensures plans and specs are issued to subcontractors and vendors and that contractor site plans are current.
• Prepares invitations to bid for complex trades; supports cost control and procurement; negotiates and prepares subcontracts.
• Assists PM with RFIs and missing contract documents; coordinates resolution of punch-list issues.

Under the direction of theProjectManager, the exempt Project Engineer will be responsible for the duties summarized below.We are seeking an individual who understands the urgency of getting the job done and done correctly.The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall administration of the project. The PE may be called upon to market company capabilities to potential customers and perform other business development activities.

Essential Job Functions

• Evaluates, tracks and updates job schedules. Communicates with subs and suppliers in regards to schedule dates and reports these communications to project staff
• Accurately prices and processes changes or proposed changes
• Assures compliance with contract and contract documents, including work meets quality standards and specifications;
• Obtains and submits all As-Built drawings, guarantees, warranties, and required operating instructions;
• Ensures that plans and specifications are issued to subcontractors and vendors and that contractor jobsite plans and specifications are current;
• Preparation of invitation to bid for complex trades;
• Assists PM in cost control, procurement of goods and services including bid solicitation and negotiation and preparation of subcontracts;
• Assist Superintendent with facilitating RFI's and missing contract documents;
• Resolves punch-list issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

-Minimum 1 year progressive experience in commercial building construction as a Project Engineer.

-College Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.

-Knowledge of contractual obligations, insurance, general conditions is necessary. This position requires strong personal computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel, Word and Bluebeam. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and non-employees at all levels.
