TW Constructors in St. Louis, MO seeks a Project Accountant to manage accounts payable/receivable and job costing across nationwide projects.

You will support project teams by answering invoice status questions and providing cost reporting insights, while ensuring timely invoicing with subcontractors and suppliers. The role emphasizes strong communication, organization, and proficiency with accounting systems; travel may be required to support projects, and GAAP compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent knowledge; working toward BS/BA in Accounting preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a General Contractor or Subcontractor.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft Office applications, and Google Sheets.
• Strong communication, organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with Computer Ease is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, code, and route invoices for appropriate approval.
• Enter approved invoices into the accounting system, ensuring accurate coding and classification.
• Review vendor records and statements; investigate and resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and respond to related inquiries.
• Assist with the preparation of 1099 forms and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Collect and maintain W-9 forms for all vendors.
• Organize and manage open and paid accounts payable files.
• Monitor subcontractor records within the accounting system.
• Verify billings do not exceed contractual limits or pending change orders.
• Proactively request invoices from subcontractors and vendors when necessary.
• Prepare and distribute customer invoices with AIA documents as per contracts.
• Process invoices electronically via DataServ and Textura.
• Generate AR aging reports and collections summaries for management.
• Submit invoices with required documentation to owner, including lien waivers and schedules.
• Record invoices in the accounting system and third-party software.
• Forward contracts to legal for review; prepare subcontracts and purchase orders as directed.
• Ensure subcontractors receive appropriate contractual documentation.
• Assist in CCIP documentation setup and management.
• Support month-end/year-end closing for AP/AR; maintain audit-ready records.
• Collaborate with accounting staff to improve efficiency and internal controls.
• Provide support on special projects and reconciliations; travel may be required.
