Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing for a large project and several smaller ones. You will classify, record, analyze and monitor costs and billings, and manage vendor compliance to mitigate project risk with the Project Manager.

Responsibilities include monthly billings, cost analysis vs. budget, AP/subcontracts processing, lien waivers, and W-9 management, plus profitability reporting and status updates in COINs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s; analyzes job performance and profitability.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and complex project-related accounting issues.
