Job summary

McGrath Rent Corp. seeks a Team Lead in Stockton, CA to oversee a crew responsible for servicing and repairing modular buildings. You will coordinate schedules, assign tasks, and ensure quality and safety standards are met on site.

Qualified candidates will have 4–6 years in construction, be able to read construction documents, operate tools safely, and communicate in English (Spanish preferred). This role requires indoor/outdoor work in varying weather and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years in construction or related industry leading trades.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and floor plans.
  • Familiarity with safety policies and procedures including OSHA.
  • Ability to operate manual and power tools and follow instructions.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a crew of employees servicing and repairing modular buildings.
  • Coordinate and prioritize production schedule; assign tasks and train as needed.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to company standards.
  • Monitor safety, tools, supplies, and work area per 5S checklist.
  • Provide coaching and backfill for other leaders when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

“A Day in the Life”

As the Team Lead you will lead a crew of employees in servicing and repairing modular buildings. Coordinate and prioritize work schedule for production crew, assign modular mechanics and general maintenance employees. Verify quality according to our standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate and prioritize work schedule for production crew, assign modular mechanics tasks, learn/train as needed, and verify quality according to our standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and construction on modular buildings to include, but not limited to, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and cleaning.
  • Monitor the work of team members to meet productivity, quality and safety requirements
  • Ensure team maintains tools, supplies and work area consistent with the area’s 5S checklist
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and safety training of crew members. Carry out current industry safety practices to include knowledge of OSHA requirements. Conduct daily and weekly safety audits and document results
  • Provide continuous training of crew members and new employees; coaches and counsels team members as needed with regards to responsibilities of their positions
  • Act as a backfill for other leaders when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Must Haves
  • Able to effectively lead a team and offer guidance and direction
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures and Company specific work orders, work instructions and floor plans provided;
  • Able to work outside in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to use both manual and power tools and follow operating guidelines
  • Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand Company’s safety policies and procedures
  • Deliver a high quality output consistent with the Company’s construction standards
  • Able to take, record and follow standard measurements and cut or separate materials to specific measurements or quantities
  • Prior experience of at least 4-6 years in the construction or related industry performing and leading general construction trades required.
  • Able to read Company’s construction documents (provided in English) and provide guidance to construction team to complete necessary work
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish preferred
  • Prior experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other specialties preferred
  • Prior experience overseeing the work of a team of at least 6 employees desired
  • Knowledge of current building codes to include 2016 CBC and 2018 IBC and ADA a plus.
  • Knowledge of LEAN a plus
  • Ability to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License
Special Considerations:
  • Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
    • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
Physical Requirements & Role Expectations.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate varying weather, temperatures, and job site conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and safely navigate modular buildings, storage/office containers, inventory yards, storage areas, and work sites.
  • Ability to perform physical activities for extended periods, including walking, inspecting equipment, reviewing inventory assets, and performing hands-on tasks.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely and effectively operate tools, equipment, computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to visually inspect modular buildings, inventory assets, labels, equipment, and documentation to identify discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns.
