Job summary

CSA Group seeks an experienced construction inspector to verify compliance with plans and permits on wastewater infrastructure projects. You will monitor installations, document site progress, and prepare field reports while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Ideal candidates have a civil or related engineering background, 2+ years in inspection, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Environmental Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of construction inspection, field observation, or wastewater infrastructure experience.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater systems, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic reporting systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with contractors, clients, and project teams.
  • Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments and travel between project sites.
  • Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
  • Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.

Responsibilities

  • Observe construction activities to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor installation of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, lift stations, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Document daily activities, site conditions, project progress, quantities, and testing results.
  • Prepare field reports, photographs, inspection records, and project logs.
  • Identify and report deficiencies, non-conforming work, safety concerns, and potential project impacts.
  • Support contractor coordination, progress meetings, and communication among project stakeholders.
  • Observe testing, startup, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Verify compliance with environmental regulations, permit requirements, and quality standards.
  • Assist with payment verification, punch lists, and corrective action tracking.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
