Job summary

Westwood Professional Services in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Construction Observer to support residential and commercial developments. You will perform on-site monitoring, assess erosion control, grading, and utility/construction activities while ensuring compliance with city standards and project plans.

You will read and interpret construction plans, generate weekly reports, review pay applications, and occasionally travel within Louisiana to sites in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer 3–5 years of residential and commercial construction observation experience.
• Strong technical expertise related to construction activities.
• Experience with City of Dallas standards and specifications.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans.
• Familiarity with grading, utility, and street construction.
• Proficiency in creating weekly reports using MS Office.
• Experience in reviewing pay applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation for residential and commercial developments.

Westwood’s Baton Rouge, LA operation is searching for a Construction Observer with strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills that works well in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

• Will conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation to serve residential and commercial developments.
• Evaluating erosion control.
• Observing site grading activities
• Observing utility construction activities such as water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation
• Observing paving construction
• Reviewing testing reports
• Ensuring the contractors are constructing improvements in accordance to the City standards and specifications and construction plans
• Preparing weekly construction summary reports.
• Reviewing monthly contractor pay applications.
• Occasional travel within Louisiana.

Qualifications

• Prefer an individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in residential & commercial construction observation.
• Strong technical expertise as it relates to construction activities.
• Experience with City of Dallas standards and specifications.
• Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret construction plans.
• Must be familiar with grading, utility and street construction.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products such as Xcel and Word to create weekly reports, etc.
• Experience in reviewing pay applications.
