Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Field Technician in New Jersey to perform field observations, materials sampling, and testing during construction projects such as buildings, bridges, and roadways. The role includes writing daily field reports, casting strength samples, and coordinating with site teams.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, 0–2 years of experience, a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug test.
• Willingness to travel to local and occasional out-of-town sites on short notice.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations and sampling/testing during construction projects (buildings, bridges, roadways).
• Test construction materials (soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, deck, roofing, paving).
• Write daily field reports and document contractor compliance with contracts.
• Cast field samples for strength verification (concrete, masonry, grout).
• Provide daily progress updates to the Department Manager via phone or in person.
• Pickup samples and deliver to laboratories; transport equipment as needed.
• Adhere to Atlas and site safety standards and policies.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform Field Observations and Materials Sampling/Testing during Construction of Buildings, Bridges and Roadways.
• Perform testing on construction materials including Soils, Reinforcing Steel, Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Fireproofing, Metal Decking, Roofing and Paving.
• Write Daily Field Reports documenting work performed by various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents.
• Cast Field Samples of Concrete, Masonry, Grout, for strength verification.
• Provide Daily Phone Calls to Department Manager to inform of Daily progress of the project.
• Pick-up construction material samples and deliver to laboratory, deliver equipment to site technicians.
• Comply with all Company safety policies.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of a high school education.
• Must have a minimum of 0 to 2 years experience.
• Must have a valid drivers license, ability to pass MVR, dependable transportation.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Preferred ACI and/or ICC certifications in soils, concrete and masonry Troxler or compatible Nuclear Gage Certification.
• Possess physical strength, stamina, and dexterity for repeatedly lifting and moving, stooping, bending, climbing, and standing in varying weather conditions at various remote construction sites with varying terrain.
• Adhere to Atlas and site-specific safety standards.
• Have the ability to travel to local and occasionally out of town sites, with short notice.
• Have the ability to read and interpret maps and directions as well as project specifications & plans.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work independently and on project teams.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
