Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager for the Allentown team. No prior experience is required as you’ll learn under experienced professionals in field tasks and early project management stages.

You will assist with field testing of soils and materials across multiple projects, document observations, and collaborate with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Construction/Materials/Architectural Engineering or Geology.
• Valid driver's license and insurance.
• Interest in project management, consulting, and business development.
• Strong communication, reading and writing skills.
• Functional knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards.

Responsibilities

• Assisting staff with field tasks on CMT projects; some office work as you learn.
• Field testing of soils, aggregates, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt pavement, and fireproofing.
• Document site observations and results in daily reports using proprietary software for CMT projects.
• Interact with clients and colleagues, keeping the project team informed of changing site conditions and additional testing.
• Begin to learn how to classify soil.

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager to join our Allentown team and advance in a dynamic work environment. No prior experience is needed, as you’ll work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks, including field work alongside other staff members and the early stages of project management.

Responsibilities

• Assisting staff with field tasks supporting various construction materials testing projects; Some office work may be performed as you begin to learn about the life cycle of the project.
• Field testing of materials including soils and aggregate, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt pavement, and fireproofing.
• Document site observations and results in daily reports using proprietary software for construction materials testing (CMT) projects.
• Interact and collaborate with colleagues and clients, including keeping entire project team informed of changing site conditions and additional testing requested on project sites; May require attending project meetings as requested.
• Begin to learn how to classify soil.

Required Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Bachelor of Science in any of the following: Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Geology; Note: Construction Management degrees and certain Technology degrees may not be considered; Role requires a degree with the ability to obtain advanced licensure (Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), etc).
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Interest in project management, consulting, and business development.
• Functional knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Sound understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
