Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Construction Materials Special Inspector to observe, sample, and test soils, foundations, concrete, masonry and steel on multiple construction sites. You will review project plans and building codes, communicate with stakeholders, and transport samples for analysis.

The role requires 3+ years in materials testing, strong knowledge of test procedures, and proficient report writing. Travel to project sites and adherence to safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification.
• ICC Special Inspector Certification in Soils, Structural Masonry, and/or Reinforced Concrete preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction materials testing or related field.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using testing equipment and maintaining accurate records.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office, for report preparation.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

• Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and client/contractor representatives regarding site requirements and testing results.
• Transport material samples to the laboratory for analysis, ensuring proper documentation.
• Prepare and submit daily reports on testing and observations to the Terracon Project Manager.
• Assist with the scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
• Maintain and clean all equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Adhere to and promote strict safety standards and protocols on-site.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth project execution and timely reporting.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in construction materials testing.
• Provide support and guidance to junior technicians as needed.
