Job description

Construction Materials Laboratory Testing Engineering Technician I

Apply for the Construction Materials Laboratory Testing Engineering Technician I role at Terracon.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel).
  • Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor's representative and others regarding construction site, project requirements, testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results.
  • Transport material samples with associated identification documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas.
  • Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites (as needed).
  • Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Communicate information to Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
  • Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Maintain assigned equipment.
  • Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months experience required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification
  • Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
Required Certification
  • Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
